The risks of transporting Li-Ion batteries

Is a lithium battery dangerous?
Lithium-Ion batteries are part of our daily lives and play a major role in our society. Think of the button cell battery in your watch, the battery in your smartphone or your laptop. So you can imagine that they are also carried in large quantities. If lithium batteries are damaged, misused, defective, or even improperly packaged, they can overheat and ignite. So a big danger, especially when transported.

UN number

Lithium batteries use various chemical processes to ensure maximum performance. It is therefore classified as a hazardous product and assigned a UN number. With this number, based on regulations, it can be determined what type of packaging is needed. Moreover, the UN number is also linked to a desired mode of transport.

For the transport of these “dangerous batteries,” Faes presents you with the ideal case. The SKB 3i cases with interiors have passed a number of performance-based tests on packaging integrity with flying colors. When a case has successfully passed all tests, it is UN-approved and permanently marked with a UN mark!

‘3i Series Injection Molded Mil-Standard Waterproof cases’

SKB’s “3i Series” cases are designed and developed to meet the strictest standards. They are air and watertight, lightweight but extremely strong. They are molded from high-strength polyproplene copolymer resin, gasketed, and resistant to corrosion and impact damage. All these features combined make the 3i the ideal case for transporting Lithium-Ion batteries.
