Remanufacturing as part of circularity

Remanufacturing is an essential part of the circular economy. Instead of replacing faulty or depreciated electric motors, equipment and parts, Remade in Holland offers a sustainable and cost-effective solution through remanufacturing and repair. This process extends product life, saves 30-70% on costs, shortens delivery times and reduces CO₂ emissions by 50%.

Until recently, used mobility scooters were transported in cardboard boxes. That didn’t feel logical, especially given their focus on circular processes. That’s why Remade knocked on Faes’ door to take the next step toward a more sustainable packaging solution.

Life Cycle Assessment

The collaboration began with a thorough analysis of logistics processes. Together, we mapped all the steps and conducted a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). An LCA is a method for evaluating the environmental impacts of a product or process throughout its entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to end-of-life. This showed that reusable crates are a significantly more sustainable alternative. They not only reduce CO2 emissions, but also provide better protection for engines during transport.

Where Remade already took pride in carefully packaging the engines, we are now taking it a step further. No more cardboard boxes, but sturdy boxes that can be used over and over again. This contributes not only to less waste, but also to a more efficient and environmentally friendly logistics process.

Reduced emissions and better protection

We proudly launched the first pilot: a pallet full of reusable boxes, ready to replace traditional boxes for good. This pilot marks an important step in our joint mission to promote the circular economy and reduce our carbon footprint.

For Faes, this is not a one-time project, but a logical extension of our intrinsic motivation to do sustainable business.
