Bas Lemmers on the implementation of StackAssist at FittinQ
FittinQ fulfills the role of e-commerce supplier for several online retailers 7 days a week. Among others, this is done for Lampenlicht, one of the largest webshops in lighting. Here parcels are sent and delivered to customers (B2C). For FittinQ, it is important that shipments are sent as efficiently and cheaply as possible. The company recently embraced Faes' StackAssist software tool for this purpose. Bas Lemmers, general manager of FittinQ, is happy to tell more about it.
‘Pick-in-the-box’ with StackAssist
“FittinQ has been located with its distribution center at the Kempisch Bedrijventerrein in Hapert since 2019. There, the packaging process initially used a standard pick-and-pack method. This method worked cumbersome. The order picker always had to first go down the racks with a collection box and then deliver it to the packing station. The products were put into the shipping box there.
Pick-in-the-box was therefore a logical next step for us. The order picker now enters the warehouse with different shipping boxes. Products are placed in them immediately. Of course, the boxes must then fit perfectly and be stackable. You therefore need to know in advance which packaging you need. The StackAssist program calculates that.”
Applying StackAssist, we now proceed as follows:
- The shipment is created in the SAP system;
- This information is provided to StackAssist;
- Based on the order lines and dimensions, StackAssist calculates the most optimal packaging;
- StackAssist delivers the most optimal packaging directly back to SAP;
- Information is stored in SAP and presented to the picker
What does the solution bring FittinQ?
“The solution enables FittinQ to send packages more efficiently but also in an environmentally friendly way. The shipments contain less air and are organized in a well-considered way. This optimization means that less transportation is required.
It also gives us many advantages internationally. Different regulations apply in each country. Thanks to StackAssist, our packages are provided with the right size box and the right printing. We also see that the information provided is processed optimally. The integration of StackAssist makes the entire process of pick and pack about 50% more efficient.”
Easy implementation
“The transition to StackAssist went smoothly. The contact with project manager Bart van Dijck was open and clear. In the interim, they agreed with us on what was needed to get the link up and running. In addition, they quickly resolved errors when they occurred. We see StackAssist as a solution that is easy to implement. With little effort, we now know how to achieve great success in a short period of time!”
