Nobleo increases efficiency through smart stacking
As an international team of engineers, Nobleo Technology has one shared mission: to make the world a healthier, safer place through technology. They combine their knowledge and expertise with practical engineering to create unique and innovative product development.
The unpacking process at Nobleo Technology was not quite efficient and satisfactory. The high-tech company always delivered their advanced technical systems to a single address. Here, different modules were then distributed to multiple rooms on site. What they were particularly struggling with was the number of MOAs (Missing On Arrival), i.e. missing parts. For this reason, they started a project to drastically reduce the number of MOAs and enlisted our help.
Consolidating at the pallet level
Using the LAMDA method from the LEAN methodology (Look, Ask, Model, Discuss, Act), Nobleo Manufacturing completely mapped the packing and unpacking process and analyzed the installation process. We then deployed our software StackAssist to optimize their process in the short term.
It was concluded that improved consolidation at the pallet level (in the order of the installation process) would be of great help. This problem was addressed by introducing sorting of parts for the assembly process. This sorting was also used for picking and to set up stacking of products on pallets.
The results of implementing StackAssist
Smart packaging management and the use of StackAssist software provided Nobleo with several significant benefits:
- Number of transport collisions reduced by 30%.
- Unpacking process is more structured and has saved considerable time.
- Faster picking of parts by sorting by assembly order.
- More control when packing and unpacking.
Oh yes, and with the project and implementation of this idea, Nobleo also finished in second place in a global competition for innovative solutions. This was not the goal, but still a special crown on their work and our cooperation!
StackAssist implementation phase 2 at Nobleo Technology
The logistics process at Nobleo now runs much more efficiently and smoothly. The next step that the company wants to take is to also use StackAssist for the efficient loading of trucks and containers. This will enable them to achieve even more cost savings and because less ‘air’ is being transported, they are also becoming more sustainable.
